CELEBRATING THE NEW DIOR HOMME FLAGSHIP STORE WITH KRIS, M/M PARIS AND THE EXCLUSIVE INSTALLATION

Just after our mind and body and soul had barely recovered from the womenswear shows in Paris, Paris came to Tokyo. The venerable house of Dior Homme that pumps out polished designs popular with the fancy people and the Tokyo street scene alike, threw a bash to celebrate their newly refurbished Omotesando flagship store last week.

The party was hosted by creative director Kris Van Assche, and (drool) M/M Paris who also directed the S/S 2014 campaign visuals. They were joined by celebrities including us, Japanese model Sumire, our homie the famous actor Hiroki Narimiya, and ultra-bloggeuse Susie Bubble.

M/M Paris created an exclusive installation for the opening. A series of constructive frame works that channeled the early 20th century work of De Stijl, featuring a graphical and modern aesthetic that links with the next Spring’s collection.

After taking a look at the the sleek and minimalistic store, and installation, don’t forget to shop. The collection goes on pre-sale here first globally, and peep the exclusive wallets that feature the signature S/S 2014 prints. The Basquiat-esque graphics will add a nice accent to your back pocket.

TABLOID BEAUTY- HIRARI IKEDA’S RED LIPS, TRIBAL EYES, ALBINO BLOND HAIR

Harajuku street style at this moment is driven by the tiny yet larger-than-life girl, Hirari Ikeda. Her arty self-portraits were too much for Instagram to handle so they shut down her account. Pooor 15,000 fans! But don’t worry she is up again

This bambi girl with a distinctive avant-garde style has been featured in VOGUE JAPAN, i-D Magazine and Dazed&Confused, and is attaining a significantly new level of stardom thanks to the POP ICON PROJECT, empowered by super fashion director Nicola Formichetti.

Just as Linda Evangelista was infamously described as a chameleon in the 90s, Hirari’s fashion, hair, and makeup has undergone multiple transformations. Some of our faves were the Nina Hagen-like neon dyed long hair, and the sensational shaved head that resembled Eve Salvail in the early 90s.

To get to know this makeup obsessed street style dynamo even better, TABLOID asked her to do a selfie-session. Here’s what we got:

RED LIPS? Tres new for Hirari. Look, there she is vamping it up with a psychedelic patterned cape from DOG Harajuku, the boutique where she works.

And spot the artistic tribal patterns drawn on her eye lids (hello S/S 2014 tendence), which she describes as “one of my current favorites, to match the striking geometric pants.”

Her androgynous look is completed with perfect platinum blond hair, a newly established look. “I first tried blond hair because I was obsessed with albinos. Ever since its the way people recognize me, but I’m starting to feel motivated for a challenge with a new look.” she reveals.

Transformation to be continued!

STUDS, SPIKES, PLEASURE, PAIN AT NEW CHRISTIAN DADA BOUTIQUE- IRASHAIMASE!

The new prince of Japanese design Masanori Morikawa seems to be obsessed with the edginess of studs and spikes, clean cuts and sharp design. What a coincidence, so are we!

After working with Charles Anastase, Masanori established Christian Dada in 2010 and since then he’s been the hot new kid in town. Nicola Formichetti tapped him to design Lady Gaga’s costume for her 2011 post-earthquake performance at MTV’s AID JAPAN AWARD.

The dark, romantic poet is a favorite of all the mode hungry Tokyo boys and girls. He plays with art and gender, presenting ice-embedded clothes for S/S 2013, or heavenly decadent embroidery and uber platform shoes by Japanese artisan Masaya Kushino for F/W 2013 .

Leading the Tokyo street scene’s new wave, the next phase for the brand is the new flagship store. Located in the tiny back streets of chaotic Harajuku, the concrete space houses the latest collection, archives, and an exclusive lineup of simple but rock flavored t-shirts.

Um, what else did we have to tell you about the store?  Just that there is an oh-my-God beautiful shop boy, Taiga. The 18 y.o. it-boy originally was a huge fan of Christian Dada and now he’s won the golden ticket and joined the team. Taiga makes us purrrrr purrrr!

Paris Indian Summer, Cruise Collection

Where Chanel goes, we follow. With The Reality Show No 3 we were spoiled by couture. But when we board our yachts and its just not practical to be swathed in sequins and hand embroidered gear, we opt for cruise.

Venice, Saint-Tropez, Cap d’Antibes and the palace of Versailles last season, Chanel chose the subtropical land of Singapore for the location of the 2013-14 cruise presentation. Shining bright right on the equator, the presentation featured a variety of resort looks, ranging from slouch trousers paired with drop shoulder knits and sporty ”cricket player“ looks for the day scene, to the feminine tweed ensembles and glamorous night gowns adorned with Lesage embroideries for evenings.

The key to the complete Chanel look-and to our lives in general- can’t go without accessories, such as the nude beige pumps with the heels embossed to resemble the texture of woven basket or threefold necklaces with irregular forms and colors of pearls.

Bag snobs will be obsessed with the straw-material or gold version of Boy Chanel, the new icon bag  that first came out in 2011.

If you aim to be the queen of resort, you can’t miss the super exclusive piece-an acrylic bag  modeled after the signature fragrance bottle.

This is all just a friendly reminder that cruise will hit the stores in November. Here are some photos from the recent resort exhibition in Tokyo, along with some of Karl’s photos from the lookbook printed on beautiful metallic paper.

START JEWELRY LINE, MEET FAMOUS FASHION STARS

Bejewelled is always better in our book.  If you ever felt you had a zing for creating bling then now is the time.

Edgard Hamon has launched prestigious prizes to support young jewelry designers- one to young accessory designers under 30 with work experience in France, and the other to a graduate from a European fashion school in 2013. The nearly 100 year old French house is one of the most authentic fashion jewelers today, creating hand made accessories for the biggest couture houses and designers. And get this- the haute class jury for the competition is composed of Christian Lacroix, Elie Top (jewelry designer of #TRSNo2 brand Lanvin), and legendary former French Vogue editor and now jewelry stylist Franceline Prat among others.

THE REALITY SHOW loves supporting up and coming talents, especially when they create big bold pieces of jewelry in silver like I usually wear. Send in your application now! The jury reviews applications at the Musée Des Art Décoratif of Paris in March 2014 and gather again in June 2014 for the award ceremony.
