RUMORS ARE TRUE: THE REALITY SHOW LAUNCHES NEW ISSUES AT COLETTE, TONIGHT!

Aren’t you coming tonight? You won’t regret it…
You can flip through our two new issues FETISH and TOKYO CAMOUFLAGE, play with our iPads, and drink free Asahi beer.
Oh, yeah also hanging out tonight! Other Stories x Vika Gazinskaya (she’s so cute, that hair!) to celebrate their collabo collection hitting the floors, and illustrator Stephan Manel to launch his new book Generique.

STILETTO SWOONING WITH ROGER VIVIER

One of fashion’s most beloved shoes designers, Roger Vivier came into prominence in the 50s with his lavishly embroidered designs for numerous couture labels including Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent that raised shoe design to the level of art.

Aside from being credited as the first to design stiletto heels-take a moment to bow your head and give thanks- this architect for the foot otherwise left his imprint on shoe design history creating signature series of virgule heel, inspired by the shape of a comma.

Bruno Frisoni, creative director of the brand since 2003, is designing for today’s most modern and glamorous girls who like a little fun and surpris in their footwear.

Fresh from the success of last months Paris retrospective “Virgule, Etc. In the Footsteps of Roger Vivier”, the French label opened its first stand alone boutique in Tokyo’s Matsuya Ginza last week. The glamorous store features the latest collection of enchanting shoes, bags and accessories, along with a series of special edition “Rendezvous” which are made is very limited numbers.

UPTOWN FAKE

Cult shop supreme Fake Tokyo just cut the ribbon on a new pop up store at Isetan Shinjuku.

More than simply a building, Fake Tokyo is actually Tokyo fashion tour de force! Made up of Candy and Sister, two boutiques that offer the best selection of the edgiest names around from cult street brands KTZ, Katy Eary, and BLK DNM to runway labels Holly Fulton, J.W.Anderson, Versus Versace, and Valentino. Its also a showroom housing young-and-rising local brands, and frequently produces fashion parties with some of our fave friends Komakino, W.I.A, House of Malakai and e.g.r.

The pop up store “Gradation” set in Isetan Shinjuku’s re-style plus block is offering  exclusive pieces by KTZ, 99%is and Maiko Takeda, who designed a costume for Bjork for  her Biophilia world tour.

ATTITUDE AND THE A, B, C’s OF CHLOE

Gaby Aghion was a fashion psychic, her brand Chloe which was established in 1952 fell into line as a pioneer of ready-to-wear, and her effortlessly chic and feminine aesthetic with a playful mind is now a universal language in the world of fashion.

The tome “Chloe Attitudes” celebrates the 60th anniversary of the brand. Launched during Paris fashion week with a cocktail at the Saint Honore flagship store hosted by our friend, the book’s legendary art director Marc Ascoli, it’s made its way to Dover Street Market Ginza accompanied with special installation of archive collections.

See the crystal embroidery, trompe-l’oeil prints and laser cut dresses by successive designers including Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo also on view at the 2012 exhibition “Chloé. Attitudes” geniously designed by Judith Clarke at the Palais de Tokio. Of course for your purchasing pleasure, the latest bags named after the alphabet theory that Madame Gaby advocated 6 decades ago- Alice, Baylee and Clea, who would you choose?

By the way, what did you think of the Chloe sponsored “Eternity Dress” performance by fashion historian Olivier Saillard and l’acctrice Tilda Swinton (ends November 24th!) at Beaux-arts de Paris? Eternity vs playful prete-a-porter. Hmmm…

Chloe Attitude launching exhibition at Dover Street Market Ginza runs until December 12.

STUDS, SPIKES, PLEASURE, PAIN AT NEW CHRISTIAN DADA BOUTIQUE- IRASHAIMASE!

The new prince of Japanese design Masanori Morikawa seems to be obsessed with the edginess of studs and spikes, clean cuts and sharp design. What a coincidence, so are we!

After working with Charles Anastase, Masanori established Christian Dada in 2010 and since then he’s been the hot new kid in town. Nicola Formichetti tapped him to design Lady Gaga’s costume for her 2011 post-earthquake performance at MTV’s AID JAPAN AWARD.

The dark, romantic poet is a favorite of all the mode hungry Tokyo boys and girls. He plays with art and gender, presenting ice-embedded clothes for S/S 2013, or heavenly decadent embroidery and uber platform shoes by Japanese artisan Masaya Kushino for F/W 2013 .

Leading the Tokyo street scene’s new wave, the next phase for the brand is the new flagship store. Located in the tiny back streets of chaotic Harajuku, the concrete space houses the latest collection, archives, and an exclusive lineup of simple but rock flavored t-shirts.

Um, what else did we have to tell you about the store?  Just that there is an oh-my-God beautiful shop boy, Taiga. The 18 y.o. it-boy originally was a huge fan of Christian Dada and now he’s won the golden ticket and joined the team. Taiga makes us purrrrr purrrr!
