It’s not easy spending time in front of a camera wearing nice clothes from Primitive London and being treated like a VIP, but someone has to do it. Recently NHK World’s TOKYO FASHION EXPRESSjetted me along with host Aki Shibuya to the Japan Expo where we ooh-ed and ah-ed at cosplayers a la Parisien and hung out with artist Choco Moo and the cats from used clothing store Spinns at the NHK World booth.
Then I headed to London for Hyper Japan with ultra-fashion player, journalist Yu Masui. I like getting close up and personal with my public, so doing a day of street fashion checks was super fun. Besties? A German teen who was bindi’ed, Buffalo’ed and grunged like she was at Burning Man in the Black Forest, and the utilitarian-jock-hip hop look that Dave wore to work that day at Thierry De Havilland (the shoe maker for the glam rock era). But the highlight was for sure touring the phenomenal David Bowie exhibition at the V&A with Yacco who styled Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust tour, and Hero’s album. Whew! Got to hear some real juicy insider gossip-but I’m not kissing and telling…
